Annie Jr. To Be Performed At Westside Secondary

Annie Jr., a play based on Little Orphan Annie, will be performed this month at Westside Secondary School, Orangeville, ON. The musical which is being organized by the Orangeville Music Theatre is the story of “a spunky orphan who is determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan.”

Auditioning took place in January and since then, the cast has been working hard and is looking forward to the production, which will be on stage for three days, May 29, 30, and 31, 2015. Opening night on the 29th begins at 8PM, while the 30th will see two shows, one at 2PM and the next at 7PM. Sunday the 31st, the curtain opens at 2PM.

Tickets are available from the Orangeville Music Theatre for $17.50 plus a small $2.04 fee. At this time, there are still tickets available for all shows. Tickets are available here.

Steve Strongman entertaining at 2014 Orangeville Blues & Jazz Fest

We’re only a short time away from opening night of this year’s Orangeville Blues Fest! It’s common talk now around town with the weather improving, and people asking each other, “Looking forward to Blues Fest this year?”

This annual event was begun in 2003 and originally was a one day affair. It’s since grown to be a full three days and nights, beginning this year on Thursday June 4th with the final act on Sunday afternoon. During this weekend, the sounds of blues and jazz can be heard all over town, with many restaurants and pubs getting into the act and hosting blues and jazz artists. While some events have a cover charge, the majority of the performances are free to everyone with the main stage located in the park behind Orangeville Town Hall. Continue reading
